On May 9th, Michael Todhunter and his sister unveiled the Estate map of the Kingsmoor House estate, dating from the 1920s. This now hangs in the hallway of the recently converted Kingsmoor House. The map was kindly donated by the Todhunter family, who lived in the house between 1873 and 1953.

The house has been sensitively converted into seven high quality apartments and was the winner of our regeneration award in the 2018 Harlow Architectural Design Awards. The award plaque is also in the hallway of the house.

  1. Very interesting information thank you. My grandmother Hilda Steele of New Zealand often stayed with her Aunt Minnie at Kingsmoor House when she was on furlough from her nursing duties in France during WW1. The name Todhunter features in our family tree. Hilda’s aunt Mary Ann Steele married Joseph Todhunter, no issue. However Camilla Steele, b. 1776, d. 1849 who married Dr John Underwood and through this line Christine, d. 1963, a daughter of Ella Underwood married B. E. Todhunter and had issue – Edward, Robin, John, Christine, Daphne. Interesting to note we all share common ancestors, Rev Adam Steele b. 1700 and Janet Paton. Have written this wondering if it may be of interest to the present family of Tod Hunters who have generously presented the map.
