It is nearly time for the Society’s Summer Walk. This event will take place on Saturday 15 July 2023, starting at 10.30am from The Greyhound PH car park in the Town Park, in School Lane. Free parking is available for up to 2 hours at the weekend. However, this might not be enough so it might be advisable to pay for an additional hour. Unless of course you are lucky enough to find a free space in nearby Park Lane!
Once again led by John Curry, our walk will follow footpaths in the park to take us across the railway via our unique Zig Zag bridge; always a good topic for conversation. We will then head downstream along the Stort towpath towards Parndon Mill via the site of the old Netteswell Hall.
On to St Mary’s, Little Parndon, passing “through” one of Harlow’s newest sculptures. Then through Herons Wood and Ram Gorse to the scene of a great spy scandal of the 1950’s.
We’ll return to the park and some well earned refreshment via the 5th Avenue neighbourhood, once the site of our pioneering sports centre. The walk is about 3.5 miles.
Hope you can join us.
The event is free, but please give notice of your intention to join the walk by emailing us at contact@harlowcivicsociety.org.uk
